THE BARN

About the Barn

When we discovered this old red barn, with its ancient chestnut trees and roaming garden, we knew we’d found something special. Built in 1900 and originally belonging to Gut Suckow and the Von Arnim family, the barn had been out of use for almost two decades when we decided to rennovate it.

The largest part of the building was given over to sheep and cow stalls, with the right side of the barn split up into small rooms for the farmer’s family. On the upper level there was also a room for smoking meat, and adjacent to that, a pigeon coup. Working with the lauded Berlin architect Thomas Kröger over a period of 4 years, we managed to turn this old cow shed into a family holiday home (the COUNTRY HOUSE), complete with a separate guest house, for year round use.

If you’re interested in renting one or both of the properties, please explore our site for information on the property itself, the charming village of Fergitz, and the Uckermark region where we are situated.

The Red Barn was awarded in 2016 with the DAM Prize of the German Architecture Museum for outstanding modern architecture.
